Patheway Health CIC Secures £8,000 National Lottery Community Fund Grant to Deliver Healthy Heart Outreach Programme

Funding will support two community-based heart health initiatives in August 2026, helping improve early detection, tackle health inequalities, and reduce pressure on NHS services.

Patheway Health CIC has been awarded an £8,000 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to expand its Healthy Heart Patheway Early Detection Programme, enabling the organisation to deliver two community outreach programmes during August 2026.

The National Lottery Community Fund supports projects that help people connect, grow, and build stronger communities. Its funding focuses on organisations working with people experiencing poverty, disadvantage, or discrimination, helping to improve health, wellbeing, and opportunities across the UK.

The grant will enable Patheway Health CIC to take essential cardiovascular health services directly into local communities, ensuring that people who may face barriers to accessing healthcare can benefit from free heart health screening, advice, and referral to appropriate support services.

Cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of ill health and premature death in the UK, yet many risk factors, including high blood pressure, can remain undetected until serious complications occur. Through its Healthy Heart Patheway Early Detection Programme, Patheway Health CIC is working to identify these risks early, helping individuals access timely intervention and make informed decisions about their health.

The two Healthy Heart Community Outreach Programmes will focus on improving access to preventative healthcare for underserved and marginalised communities. Participants will have the opportunity to receive heart health assessments, learn more about cardiovascular wellbeing, and receive practical advice and signposting to relevant health and support services.

The programme is expected to deliver a range of benefits for local communities, including:

  • Supporting the early detection of cardiovascular risk factors to help reduce the incidence of stroke, high blood pressure, and other heart-related conditions.

  • Improving access to preventative healthcare for underserved and marginalised populations, helping to address long-standing health inequalities.

  • Raising awareness of heart health through education, community engagement, and personalised health advice.

  • Reducing demand on NHS services by promoting early diagnosis and intervention before conditions become more serious and require urgent treatment.

Commenting on the award, the CEO of Patheway Health CIC said:

"We are delighted to receive this support from The National Lottery Community Fund. This funding will enable us to expand our Healthy Heart Patheway Early Detection Programme and reach more people who may otherwise have limited access to preventative health services. By bringing health screening into the heart of our communities, we can identify potential health concerns earlier, promote healthier lifestyles, and help reduce avoidable cardiovascular disease. We are extremely grateful to National Lottery players, whose support makes initiatives like this possible, and helps create healthier and stronger communities"

The Healthy Heart Community Outreach Programmes form part of Patheway Health CIC's wider commitment to improving health outcomes through preventative healthcare, education, and community engagement. By working closely with local communities and partners, the organisation continues to develop accessible health initiatives that address inequalities and empower people to take control of their wellbeing.

Further information about the Healthy Heart Patheway Early Detection Programme and the August 2026 community outreach events will be announced on the Patheway Health CIC website and social media channels in the coming weeks.

Patheway Health CIC extends its sincere thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and The National Lottery funding team for their continued investment in community-led initiatives that improve lives and strengthen communities across the UK.
